PAINTING CLASSES

No previous painting experience is required. You just need a desire to paint. Painting classes are offered for adults, children, church groups, home schoolers, service organizations, office or birthday parties.

Daytime, evening and weekend classes at a reasonable cost. Decorative painting is a diverse art form that utilizes a variety of techniques and media to decorate functional and non functional surfaces.

Contemporary decorative painting is a teachable art form because of the systematic method that is employed. The use of either pre drawn or freehand designs allows a high degree of success without academic training or inherent drawing ability.

The scope of decorative painting is boundless, incorporating styles and techniques of the past, adapting these to the trends and materials of the present, while at the same time developing the decorative art heritage of the future.

Most folk art is done with acrylic paints with synthetic brushes: A round brush for doing comma strokes, a line brush for doing fancy finishing strokes and the flat brush in a multitude of sizes for doing blending and shading of the subject. Having a Party? . . .
The place to go is "The Studio"

You don't have to wait for your birthday to come around to enjoy a visit to "The Studio". One day sessions, similar to birthday parties can be arranged for service groups like Girl Guides, Boy Scouts, and Home
School Groups. Special Christian projects are available for Sunday School classes and Ladies Prayer groups. Even a "Girls' night out" can be a lot of fun and you take home a finished project as well! For more information call (250) 757-8112.

CHILDREN’S CLASSES

Classes are suited to children 7 and up : those old enough to hold a pencil and print well,be able to concentrate for a reasonable length of time and follow simple instructions. While we wait for paint to dry and everyone to catch up there are some activity games to play, or maybe some small animals to pet. Costs include the use of studio brushes, paint and all project pieces. We even have paint shirts to wear. The only supplies you will need are a 1” foam brush and water based varnish to apply the final sealant coat at home.

Monday’s - Cost: $40

Getting ready for the winds of fall there will be a great new fall wind sock, Halloween decorations, and a start to some great Christmas gifts for those special folks in your life.

With that special season right around the corner we will make some awesome Christmas decorations for the tree, a simple advent calendar, and a gift for giving to someone special.

Home schoolers - Cost: $50

This is a special grouping of classes of projects for all you home schoolers. This is a great opportunity for your children to get a jump on the festive season. We will work on a fall wind sock, Christmas tree decorations, an advent calendar, and a gift for giving to someone special in their lives.

ADULT CLASSES

No previous painting experience is required as an expert Folk Art instructor will guide you to discover hidden talents for turning garage sale treasures, fabric, furniture and custom cut wood pieces into beautiful additions to your home. Basic brush strokes are taught for the critical foundation to all folk art painting. Proper project preparation, and finishing techniques will be detailed so you may use your new skills for many other projects once you have learned the basics so you to will have a “Brush of Success”. Our first project is a basic project of which there are a quite a few to choose from. We build on your newly developed skills so you can develop confidence and brush control. You will be amazed at the projects you will be able to paint in a very short time once you master the basics. For your first class you may use studio brushes and acrylic paints. Once you have decided that this is for you brushes are available for purchase, as are the project wood pieces.

CLASS TIMES & DATES

Adult classes are 3 hours in length. Adult classes are 9am - 12 pm or 1-4pm, and 7 - 10 pm.

Children's classes are 2 hours in length. Most children's classes are run in 3 - 4 week groupings of projects so we may work on several pieces in various stages of completion. In the summer classes operate daily for a week at a time like a summer day camp.

Times are available from 9 am - 9 pm daily. There are current classes running that you should call and inquire about. Home schooler classes are available during the day from 10 - 12, 1-3 and after school classes 3-5pm or 6-8pm. To inquire E-mail me at Carla@brushofsuccess.com for more information.
